Capitol Day

Every year there is a "Capitol Day" for homeschoolers. It's a chance for the kids to meet their representatives and for the parents to encourage our state legislature to keep Oklahoma a homeschool-friendly state. As it stands right now, we are one of the LEAST regulated states when it comes to our educational choice for our kids. It is one area where the government has decided to leave those choices in the hands of the parents. Don't get me wrong- we have a few legislators (most are former teachers) who seem bound and determined to get some kind of law on the books which will inevitably impact homeschool families. Lucky for us- our representative is a homeschool dad himself!

This sculpture is inside the capitol building and the boys asked me to take their picture with it. (Notice the cool guy "hands in pockets" look they went for?) They stood and examined the sculpture for a minute after I'd snapped this shot. As we walked away Clark said in a low voice, "Mom- that dude had nipples." Again- another insightful observation by my youngest.
