Truly Americans

The boys recently joined a competitive swimming league. Seeing as how they are beginners, it is just the two of them plus one other boy in their group level right now. Tonight after lessons as I was waiting for them to come out of the locker room their coach started visiting with me about their progress, skill level, etc. Then we started talking about the other little boy- who my kids have called "chatty." The coach smiled at that and said, "The thing is- he's part Russian so even though he talks all the time, I only understand about half of what he says." Then she told me that last week Grant was talking to this other little boy and asked him where he's from and why does he have such an accent? The boy said, "My mom is from Russia and my Dad is from Holland, so I'm half Dutch and half Russian." Grant said, "Oh... well, me and Clark are half Arkansas and half Louisiana," to which Clark adds, "But we're truly Americans."
